The proposed project includes constructing a replacement bridge east of the existing bridge, while maintaining traffic on the existing bridge. This will require the re-alignment of a portion of Illinois 178. A shared-use path will be constructed along the east side of Illinois 178 from Donaldson Street to Starved Rock Road to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists. Following construction of the new bridge, the existing bridge will be removed.
